1. Don’t plug everything into one outlet or extension cord. It could damage the house electrical system or could even start a house fire.

2. Tuck all electrical cords away, safely, neat and tidy By not doing this, it can cause injury or pets could chew and damage cords.

3. Don’t pull a electrical cord straight from the wall. Pulling on a cord can not only wreak a cord, but it can also damage the appliance. Safely remove the appliance from outlet by pulling from the end.

4. Never fly a kite near powerline or substations The kite and the string may conduct electricity, sending it right through to the ground.

5. Keep electrical equipment away from water and liquid substances Majority of electrical accidents that occur are from water.

6. Keep an eye of the condition of electrical outlets and plugs. Make sure they’re not burnt or frayed. To fix old electrical outlets, check with an electrician.

7. Avoid major electrical appliances in the bathroom. The bathroom contains a lot of water and spillages are very common.

8. Make a habit to turn off appliances before going to bed or going away. Not only does this save power, but it reduces the risk of house fires.

9. Never use equipment with frayed cords.

10. Never use an aluminium or steel ladder when working with electricity An electrical surge can pass through your whole body. Use bamboo, wooden or fiberglass as another option.

11. Never leave cords where toddlers can get to them They can damage the cords by chewing or pulling at them. Try hide any cords that are laying around.

12. Ensure kitchen or heavier appliances cords do not hang over benches. Children can pull them and hot water and heavy objects could fall on them and hurt them.
